We are honored to share that Tech Exchange was recognized as the 2025 Community Partner Award recipient by the Multicultural Institute (MI)!

This award celebrates our strong partnership and shared dedication to empowering marginalized communities across the Bay Area through access to technology and digital literacy education.

137 Digital Literacy Graduates - And Counting!

As part of our partnership with the Multicultural Institute, Tech Exchange provided culturally sensitive digital literacy classes to underserved communities in Berkeley, Richmond, and Redwood City. We’re proud to share that:

137 individuals graduated from our Digital Literacy Program through the Multicultural Institute

These graduates - many of whom are elder immigrant Latinx community members, gained essential computer skills, internet navigation knowledge, and confidence to engage in today’s digital world. From sending their first email to applying for jobs online, every step represents greater opportunity and connection.

Bridging the Digital Divide, Together

This award is not just a milestone for Tech Exchange, it’s a testament to what’s possible through deep community partnerships. Together with MI, we:

  • Provided free computers and internet support to families and individuals without home connectivity.

  • Taught classes in Spanish and English, designed with cultural relevance and accessibility in mind.

  • Created pathways to employment, education, and essential services through tech access and skills training.

We’re proud of our shared accomplishments and excited for what lies ahead.

Learn More About the Multicultural Institute

Since 1991, MI has worked with different immigrant communities in three areas; Alameda, San Mateo and Contra Costa counties to support day laborers, low-income immigrant families, and underserved communities through education, job placement, and holistic social services.
