On Saturday, June 20, 2026, Tech Exchange partnered with SMASH to host a series of hands-on workshops at the Kapor Center—bringing together nearly 40 high school students preparing for their transition into college and future careers in tech.
This collaboration reflects a shared commitment to expanding access, opportunity, and representation in the technology sector by equipping students with the tools they need to succeed both academically and professionally.
Building Skills for the Future
Throughout the day, Tech Exchange staff led interactive sessions designed to strengthen students’ readiness for the next phase of their journey. The workshops focused on three key areas:
LinkedIn & Digital Presence Workshop
Students learned how to build and optimize their LinkedIn profiles, helping them establish a strong and professional online presence.
Resume Building Workshop
Participants received guidance on crafting effective resumes that highlight their skills, experiences, and aspirations.
Hands-On Refurbishment Workshop
In a signature Tech Exchange experience, students got hands-on with computer refurbishment—gaining practical technical skills while learning about sustainability and the lifecycle of technology.
A Collaborative Effort
The event was supported by a dedicated team of six Tech Exchange staff members, including a Senior Program Manager and Digital Literacy Navigators. Together, they created an engaging and supportive environment where students could ask questions, build confidence, and explore pathways into the tech industry.
Preparing Students for Careers in Tech
At its core, this event was about more than just workshops—it was about empowerment. By helping students strengthen their resumes, enhance their online presence, and gain real-world technical experience, Tech Exchange and SMASH are working to ensure that the next generation is prepared to confidently step into college and pursue careers in technology.
Events like these are a powerful reminder that access to knowledge, tools, and mentorship can open doors—and that the future of tech is brighter when it’s inclusive.
