At Tech Exchange, our mission to bridge the digital divide is only possible through the support of a committed community and corporate partners. One such partner, AppDirect, continues to show what meaningful engagement looks like in action.
On Friday, April 17, a team of volunteers from AppDirect joined us at our Oakland warehouse for a hands-on day of impact. Rolling up their sleeves, the group worked alongside our production team to help process and refurbish essential technology that will soon be placed into the hands of individuals and families across the Bay Area.
Throughout the day, AppDirect volunteers played a critical role in testing and preparing distribution devices. Together, they helped test approximately 30 to 40 computers and evaluated an estimated 25 to 50 monitors, ensuring that each piece of equipment met our quality standards before reaching the community. In addition to device testing, the team also supported our e-commerce operations by organizing and preparing laptop components for our online sales platform, helping us extend the lifecycle of valuable technology.
This kind of support directly contributes to our ability to provide reliable, affordable devices to those who need them most. Every tested computer and prepared component represents a step closer to digital access for a student, job seeker, or family working to stay connected.
Our continued partnership with AppDirect is especially meaningful following their recognition as the Corporate Volunteer & Philanthropic Champion Award 2025 recipient at Tech Exchange’s 30th Anniversary Gala this past October. This award celebrates organizations that go above and beyond in their commitment to community impact, and AppDirect exemplifies that spirit.
We are grateful to see their team return to our warehouse, reinforcing their dedication not just through words, but through action. Partnerships like this are vital to advancing digital equity and building stronger, more connected communities.
