Every April, the world celebrates Earth Month and is a time to reflect on how our everyday actions can protect the planet and build a more sustainable future. At Tech Exchange, sustainability is not just a value we believe in—it's embedded in everything we do. By refurbishing used technology and redirecting it to families in need, we’re reducing e-waste and bridging the digital divide.

But right now, we need your help.

As Tech Exchange continues to expand our digital inclusion efforts across six Bay Area counties, our need for working technology has reached an all-time high. To keep pace with demand and continue serving thousands of households, students, and community organizations, we are launching our Earth Month Campaign with a bold goal:

Collect 1,000 working computers in the month of April.

Why It Matters

In the Bay Area alone, tens of thousands of families still lack access to a working computer at home. This gap limits opportunities for education, employment, telehealth, and civic engagement. Meanwhile, millions of devices end up in landfills each year—many of which could be reused or repurposed.

Tech Exchange provides a sustainable solution.

Every device donated to us is either refurbished by our team or responsibly recycled. The refurbished devices are then distributed to under connected communities—with tech support, training, and love included.

We’re Powering Two Major Projects—And Are in Need of Inventory

This spring, we’re rolling out two large-scale digital equity initiatives in the Bay Area. With hundreds of schools, nonprofits, and city agencies relying on us, the demand is real and urgent. We’re calling on individuals, companies, schools, and agencies to donate their unused working laptops and desktops now to help us meet the growing need.

What We Need

We’re specifically looking for:

  • Laptops (Windows, Mac, or Chromebooks)

  • Desktops (all-in-ones or towers)

  • Devices must be in working condition and preferably no older than 5 years. ( we would still take older device)

  • We securely wipe all data, provide receipts (eligible tax write offs), and handle logistics.

  • We do FREE Pick ups.

Make Earth Month Count

This Earth Month, you have the power to make a lasting impact—on both the planet and people’s lives. By donating your used computers, you:

  • Keep devices out of landfills

  • Support local students and families

  • Fuel sustainable, community-powered digital equity

Let’s turn e-waste into opportunity. Let’s power connection, learning, and access. Let’s do it together.
