On Friday, May 29th, Tech Exchange proudly celebrated the graduation of our Digital Literacy class at the Melrose Oakland Library branchmarking another meaningful step toward closing the digital divide in our community.

This cohort, made up of Spanish and Mam-speaking participants, completed hands-on training designed to build essential digital skills. From learning how to navigate the internet and use email, to accessing online resources for education, healthcare, and employment, graduates gained the tools needed to confidently participate in today’s digital world.

The graduation was more than a ceremony, it was a celebration of resilience, growth, and opportunity. Each participant received a certificate recognizing their achievement, along with a computer to continue their digital journey at home. Access to a device is critical, but paired with the skills to use it, it becomes a powerful gateway to connection and advancement.

Adding to the excitement of the day, Univision joined us to capture the moment. Their team interviewed both staff and graduates, helping share the deeper impact of our Digital Literacy program and amplifying the voices of those directly benefiting from it. For many participants, this was an opportunity to reflect on their journey and inspire others in their community to take the first step toward digital empowerment.

At Tech Exchange, we believe digital access is a right, not a privilege. Programs like our Digital Literacy classes are designed to meet people where they are, offering culturally and linguistically relevant instruction that ensures no one is left behind.

As we celebrate this group of graduates, we are reminded that bridging the digital divide is not just about technology; it’s about people. It’s about opening doors, building confidence, and creating pathways to a more connected and equitable future.

Congratulations to all of our graduates, we can’t wait to see what you do next.
