CREATE OPPORTUNITIES WITH YOUR RETIRED TECHNOLOGY
Today, over 450,000 Bay Area residents
do not have access to computers at home.

A SUSTAINABLE SOLUTION
Tech Exchange relies on donations of decommissioned computer equipment at the heart of our refurbishment process. Your company’s old computers, monitors, and other devices will be diverted from the waste stream, refurbished by our Oakland-based staff and interns, and given a new life in the hands of our digital inclusion participants. At the same time, you’ll be making the right choice for the environment. Repurposing just one computer saves 4,473 KWh of energy and 4.6 lbs of hazardous waste!
YOUR DATA SECURITY IS OUR PRIORITY
The security of your data is of the utmost importance to Tech Exchange, so we offer a Triple-Pass Department of Defense data wipe process and certificates. After our friendly staff receives your devices, they are taken to our secure warehouse. Devices with removable hard drives are disassembled and receive a triple-pass machine wipe, with receipts of destruction upon request.
With THREE simple steps, you can donate your computers and unwanted tech and contribute to climate justice!
3 SIMPLE STEPS
STEP 1: Gather your company’s retired computers and technology.
STEP 2: Visit Pickup.techexchange.org to schedule a pick-up for quantities of 20+ items. If donating less than 20 devices, please email [email protected] for drop-off options. STEP 3: Our team picks up the equipment. It is then taken to our secure warehouse to be sorted, data wiped , and refurbish fixable devices. |

TOGETHER WE CAN CLOSE THE DIGITAL DIVIDE
For over 29 years, Tech Exchange has provided free and low-cost refurbished devices, tech support, and digital inclusion services for Bay Area residents. As our operations continue to grow to cities and counties in different regions in California your retired technology can provide under-resourced students and families with the computers they need to thrive in the digital world (search for jobs, pay bills, attend classes, complete their homework etc) and empower themselves daily. |
