Your contribution helps us address digital equity and provide home access to digitally disconnected students and families.
#TechForAll Tech Exchange staff and volunteers have mobilized to establish texting and phone banks, responding to calls to inform families of internet options, and preparing hotspots and laptops to be distributed to students. You can help support this critical work by making a contribution to our TECH FOR ALL campaign:
The Oakland Public Education Fund, a non-profit 501 (c)(3) organization, serves as our fiscal sponsor. To request a copy of our most recent financial statement, please email email@example.com.
Today in the Bay Area there are a staggering 1.5 million residents that do not have home Internet and a computer. Since the Shelter-In-Place announcement, Tech Exchange staff and volunteers have distributed more than 1,000 devices.
Typically, we receive computers from companies cycling out their older inventory, however due to COVID-19 closures, incoming device donations have decreased. We need your help to replenish our inventory to continue this important work. HOW YOU CAN HELP Reach out to your networks and encourage them to activate their company IT teams in charge of managing hardware inventory. Providing computers that will support our disconnected families is an essential service under the Shelter in Place order.
Tech Exchange is ready and able to pick up bulk quantities of new and used devices throughout the Bay Area and get them into the hands of students. Our biggest need is working laptops and Chromebooks that can be refurbished for a student's use.
