Tech For Housing
Tech Exchange currently provides digital inclusion services to 10 different public housing sites across the Bay Area. We provide support to residents across varying languages (English, Spanish, Chinese, Korean, etc.), ages (youths, working adults, seniors) and technology experience levels (beginner, intermediate, or advanced). Residents will be trained on the use of online financial tools, earn certificates from online training programs, and gain digital productivity skills (managing a calendar, email, word processing, finding local services, etc)

Internship Program
Involving Oakland youth in our organization has always been an integral component to our mission.
Tech Exchange is committed to leveling the playing field. Through an internship experience at Tech Exchange, students gain hardware knowledge and become comfortable troubleshooting and refurbishing computers. Students work alongside technicians at schools and public housing sites to resolve technical issues, upgrade, and replace machines. By communicating with Tech Exchange staff, completing workplace responsibilities, and receiving consistent feedback and coaching from mentors, students gain transferrable, marketable professional skills and build a network that will serve them well in future opportunities. |
Smart Neighborhoods
Smart Cities need to be made up of Smart Neighborhoods. In a Smart Neighborhood, all of the neighborhood’s residents are digitally empowered and engaged with the other residents, businesses, and public agencies in the neighborhood, and in turn with other neighborhoods and with the greater city as a whole.
Based on the recognition of this imperative, Tech Exchange has designed and is launching its Smart Neighborhoods Initiative. As the first step in rolling out its Smart Neighborhoods Initiative, Tech Exchange is establishing a Smart Neighborhoods Program in the San Antonio Neighborhood of Oakland by opening a Tech Hub at 2530 International Blvd in an East Bay Asian Local Development Corporation (EBALDC) commercial facility to provide the neighborhood a robust integrated set of digital education and empowerment programs. |
