The Serve2STEM Pre-Apprenticeship Program is a 12-week initiative designed for young adults aged 18-26 in Alameda, Contra Costa, and Solano Counties. Our mission is to equip participants with the technical and professional skills needed to thrive in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) careers, while advancing digital equity in our communities.
Hands-On Technical Curriculum
Participants in the Serve2STEM program will engage in a dynamic curriculum that emphasizes practical, hands-on learning. From mastering the basics of hardware and software troubleshooting to gaining proficiency in device refurbishing and IT system management, the program ensures a solid foundation for future careers. The training also prepares participants for essential industry certifications like CompTIA A+ and Network+.
Real-World Experience
The program integrates real-world projects that challenge participants to apply their technical knowledge in meaningful ways. With guidance from experienced mentors and collaboration with program partners, participants work on impactful initiatives aimed at addressing digital equity challenges in their communities. A highlight of the program is the Serve2STEM capstone project, which allows each cohort to design innovative solutions to bridge the digital divide
Mentorship & Career Preparation
Beyond technical training, Serve2STEM provides comprehensive career readiness support. Participants receive mentorship and coaching to build their professional skills, including resume writing, interview techniques, and effective workplace communication. The program also connects participants to employment opportunities in fields like IT support and tech repair, ensuring they are well-prepared for both immediate and long-term career success.
