DIGITAL SKILLS WORKSHOPS

Picture

Tech Exchange currently provides digital inclusion services to 10 different public housing sites across the Bay Area, with varying needs. We provide support to residents across varying languages (English, Spanish, Chinese, Korean, etc), ages (youths, working adults, seniors) and technology experience levels (beginner, intermediate, or advanced). We understand residents of some of these populations are vulnerable and underserved.

Digital Skills Curriculum
Workshops are tailored to the specific needs of residents following a due-diligence process to determine existing skills and areas of potential improvement. Workshops are easily adapted for more or less skilled technology users, as well as for seniors who may be less familiar with computers and the internet. Student learning outcomes covered by skill-level may include how to:

  • Setup computer hardware (mouse, keyboard, monitor, and power supply)
  • Operate computers with Windows 10 operating system.
  • Use the keyboard and mouse to navigate the computer and execute basic tasks such as word processing and sending emails.
  • Create and use free professional email addresses.
  • Begin to use the Google Suite (Google Docs, etc.)
  • Understand the essentials of internet and search engine use.
  • Use external storage devices like USB/thumb drives to save files and documents.
  • Use printers to print documents.
  • Use scanners to create digital files from paper documents.
