Tech Exchange has released its FY 2023-24 Impact Report, showcasing a remarkable year of advancing digital equity across the Bay Area. The report provides a detailed look at the organization's accomplishments, illustrating the significant strides made to ensure that technology access and digital literacy are available to all, especially underserved communities. Here’s an overview of the key highlights from the report: Empowering the Community Through Digital Literacy: One of the standout achievements of the past year is the graduation of 642 participants from 45 digital literacy cohorts conducted across six counties in the Bay Area. These programs provided essential training, enabling participants to acquire the skills needed to navigate the digital world confidently. The training covered a range of topics from basic computer skills to more specialized digital tasks, catering to diverse community needs. Graduates have reported improvements in their abilities to access online education, job opportunities, and essential services. Meeting Tech Support Needs with Over 8,000 Resolved Cases Tech Exchange continued to provide critical support services, completing 8,115 tech support requests over the fiscal year. These efforts ensured that individuals could rely on their devices for education, work, and everyday tasks without facing prolonged technology-related setbacks. This service was especially vital in reducing tech anxiety and helping community members maintain seamless connectivity. Making a Difference with the TechHub Open Service. The TechHub, a central pillar of Tech Exchange's outreach, delivered 1,728 hours of open service this year, offering device repair, tech support, and drop-in consultations. The service hours were dedicated to ensuring that anyone facing digital barriers could receive the assistance needed to stay connected and productive. The TechHub has become a critical resource for those who need hands-on help with their devices. Developing Future Leaders Through Internships The organization’s commitment to workforce development was reflected in the engagement of 33 interns, who contributed a total of 9,441 hours of service. These internships not only supported Tech Exchange’s mission but also provided valuable hands-on experience for the interns, many of whom gained skills that enhanced their career prospects in the tech industry. Expanding Reach with Device Distribution and Community Events This year, Tech Exchange distributed 6,742 devices, including laptops, desktops, and tablets, helping bridge the technology gap for individuals and families in need. The organization also participated in over 100 community events, further extending its outreach and engaging directly with the communities it serves.
